See below for frequently asked questions and insurance we accept.

  • What insurance companies does Applied accept?
Here at Applied, we accept Medicare, Medical, Medicaid, Kaiser, and Workman's Compensation. See the full list at the bottom of this page.
  • How do I care for my prosthesis?
Cleaning your prosthesis regularly with mild soap and water is important. Be sure to follow any specific care instructions provided by our team. Check your skin for irritation and contact us if you notice any issues.
  • Will my prosthesis need adjustments?
Yes. After receiving your prosthesis, it’s common to require adjustments as your body adapts. We provide ongoing support and fitting sessions to ensure optimal comfort and function.
  • Can I be active with my prosthesis?
Absolutely! Many patients with prosthetic devices are able to return to regular activities, including sports and exercise. We provide different types of prosthetics designed for a range of activity levels, from walking to more intense physical activities.
  • How long does a prosthesis last?
Prosthetics can last up to a few years with proper care, but the exact time frame depends on wear and tear, how well the device is maintained, and changes in your body. Regular check-ups will help determine when replacements or upgrades are necessary.
  • Will I experience pain with my prosthesis?
While some discomfort can occur during the adjustment period, your prosthesis should not cause ongoing pain. If you experience persistent discomfort, it’s important to schedule an appointment so adjustments can be made.
  • How do I get started with a prosthesis?
The first step is a consultation with our experienced clinicians. After evaluating your specific needs and goals, we’ll create a personalized plan for your prosthetic care.
  • Will insurance cover the cost of my prosthesis?
Many insurance plans cover prosthetic devices, but coverage details can vary. Our team will work with you and your insurance provider to determine what’s covered and assist in managing the claims process.
  • Can I wear my prosthesis all day?
It depends on your comfort level. In the beginning, it’s recommended to wear your prosthesis for short periods and gradually increase the time. Your prosthetist will guide you through this process to ensure a smooth transition.
  • What if I have problems or need repairs?
We offer comprehensive follow-up care, including repairs and adjustments. If you experience any issues, contact our office immediately, and we’ll schedule a time to resolve the problem.
  • Are there any products to treat my skin after wearing a prosthetic?
Yes, we offer Medi-cream, a specialized formula developed by our prosthetists in collaboration with physicians. Medi-Cream’s formula is designed to provide comfort, relief, and skin protection after wearing your prosthetic device.
  • What if I run out of socks or liners?
We can help! We sell a full line of prosthetic and orthotic supplies online, including socks and liners. These items can be delivered directly to your home or, in some cases, picked up at our office. No prescription is needed to purchase these supplies. Check out our Products page for more information.
